He was born on October 8, 1907. As far as has been confirmed, Marcellin was in the Vernet concentration camp (France) from which he was evacuated, in trucks and/or buses, along with other detainees on July 30, 1944. towards the Caserna Caffarelli in Toulouse. From there they would be deported to Dachau in the famous convoy 1,261 called by the deportees themselves “Ghost Train”. Marcelino escaped from the train on August 21, 1944 at the height of Valence. Vernet was a repressive camp run by the Gestapo and was used to intern all foreigners suspected or dangerous to public order in France (anti-fascist intellectuals). In June 1944, the last internees (403) were evacuated from the camp, the men being deported to the Dachau concentration camp and the women to the Ravensbrück concentration camp.
