Basque nationalist action (ANV)

Description of events

Political organization
Date : –
Address : Horacio Echevarrieta, 31 bajo (current Pormetxeta street).

Basque Nationalist Action was born as a political-ideological split of the Basque Nationalist Party on November 30, 1930. Non-denominational and liberal, this party, according to Mikel Aizpuru “had one of its important focuses and its largest group in Barakaldo” (vol I, p.168).

It had a central headquarters at Calle Horacio Echevarrieta, 31 bajo (now Calle Pormetxeta) and five more offices spread over different neighborhoods of the municipality, most of them stemming from the split from the PNV. There is evidence of the existence of at least the Burceña headquarters.

ANV had great importance during the Second Republic in Barakaldo.
