On June 22, 2012, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the fall of Barakaldo by Franco’s troops, the Commission for the Recovery of the Historical Memory of Barakaldo, carried out different acts, among which was the placement of a plaque Commemorative of the town hall at the entrance of the old Los Hermanos school, in the current Los Hermanos Park.
The place was chosen because on April 27, 1937, several bombs fell, beheading a 13-year-old girl, and the building was also being used as a blood hospital at that time. The marks of those bombs that fell that day are still visible in that place.
This plaque pays tribute to all the people who faced the Francoist uprising and decided to defend the city, who died in it or being from Barakaldo died in other locations defending the Second Republic.
The plaque also tries to recognize the work of those who worked for the maintenance of life in the municipality during those months and those who, after the Civil War, suffered the repression of the Franco dictatorship for so long with torture, jail and executions.
Currently located on a wall that gives entrance to the Los Hermanos park.
